Finals Banquet

On the Sunday after the finals we all headed up to the curling rink for the awards banquet and supper. It was like 4 hours long so it was really long and boring but it was worth it. Supper was awesome, especially the desert which I had 6 pieces of it. For the awards I ended up winning 2 gear bags for 2nd place in both steer wrestling and team roping header. I won the finals tie down roping buckle and the year end tie down buckle. I won the cowboy of the year award which I was pretty pumped to receive that award. Then I won the All Around award. The All Around included a saddle, buckle, memberships to different associations, a certificate for boots, a certificate for horse feed, and a cowboy bible. It was really awesome to win this. The biggest honor though was winning the cowboy of the year award. I had a pretty good weekend to say the least. Anyways I got to get going so I will chat you up some other times. Bye for now!

Finals

Hey there cowboys! So this past weekend we headed up to Hamiota for our finals. Had a really good weekend. I was 9.7 in the calf roping the first day, 15 something the second day, and 13 the third day to win the finals. I was 10 something on my bull dogging steer the first day, and 6.1 the second day, I hung a stirrup the third day and had to turn the steer loose. The team roping Layne and I were 6 seconds and a barrier, 6 and a leg the second day, and 5.9 and a leg the third day. We had to many penalties to do very good in the average.

Last Night's Practice Session

Good Day. I realize I posted 3 times already today but I need to get them for my E.L.A. project so in this post I am going to talk randomly about my rope session last night. So last night we went to go roping and we had to sort calves off the cows in a foot and a half of mud. My brilliant sister tried to grab one by the neck and she got drug around. It was really funny because she went through the deepest mud and like disappeared at times. Then the calf stepped on her and ripped a strip of skin off her back about a foot long! We got the calves in the arena at my uncle's farm. My cousin Shane, also my instructor, showed up and we roped some calves. I didn't have the greatest session because I missed my first calf which is the most important. After that I caught the rest but I still wasn't happy with it. My horse worked pretty good though. That is a good thing because he cost me a lot of money and I bought him from Shane. He is black and his name is Rolex. I really like him! Usually works really awesome for me. Anyways Sky and Boe went roping with us and they had a pretty good night but not great. Shane had  a terrible night because things weren't clicking for him. It was the first time he roped calves since the tragic accident in our family and I think it probably had something to do with it. It was an okay night had by all. Hopefully ready for the weekend now because we leave tonight. Chat at you later!

Rapid City-Neepawa

Hey there cowboys and cowgirls! Last weekend we were at Rapid City. It was a good weekend, didn't to much rain for the most part, and the arena was dry which was nice for a change! I had a pretty good day the first day. I placed second to my team roping partner in the calf roping, I was 18 seconds or something. It wasn't a very good run but good enough to win some points. The bull dogging I crawled off my best buds horse and ended up beating him. I was second there too. He didn't find it near as funny as I did haha. Then in the team roping I split the horns but managed to get a half head out of it and Layner was there to catch 2 feet placing us 3rd in the rodeo. I thought that it was an ok day. The second day I was 12.7 on my calf and won. The bull dogging horse run by a little to wide from the steer and I took a fairly good tumble when I jumped at the steer. The ground felt like cement it was so hard. It was all good though because I didn't get seriously hurt just gave the crowd something to laugh about which is usually what I do in that event. Then in the team roping I christmas wrapped the horns, which is illegal, but I turned him anyways and Layner caught him but we got a no time for the illegal head catch:(    P.S. Layner isn't spelt wrong that's what we call him!

Commercial Blog

This commercial is  based upon Trevor Brazile, who is a cowboy. It is a video that I got off of you tube. He is a calf roper, team roper, and steer roper, who sets new records all the time. He is the greatest cowboy to ever live. He is a 14 time world champion. This commercial is based on his opportunity to win his 8th all around world title.
The catch words that are used are hero and destiny. These are catch words because they are talking about him having the opportunity to become a hero. He will be a hero if he wins his 8th all around world title because no one else has ever done it. The most was 7, which were won by Ty Murray. The word destiny is a catch word because they are talking about what he is meant to do. He was pretty much guaranteed to win it, which he did. So now he is a hero.
In this commercial they use bright colors to make it catchier. They use catch words that grab your attention by telling you that a hero could be made and records could be beat. They use a famous person, Trevor Brazile, who is known as the best cowboy in the world and probably the greatest cowboy in the world. They use tradition in it because they say that he has won it 7 times already which means it should happen again.
That is all I got to say about this other than Trevor is awesome.

Grunthal's Over, Getting Ready for Rapid City

Hey there folks. How are you doing? Well we went to Grunthal on the weekend. My little brother Boe, Tanner, his dad, and I took our rig over there. It was a great trip, dumped some bales off the roof on the way but it wasn't really a big deal. Our trailer full of people made out alright for the weekend  so we were all pretty happy. I was 12 seconds on my first calf and won it the first day, 8 seconds on my bull dogging steer and won that too. Then the team roping came around and we were 7.7 seconds on our steer and we won that too. We were the only team to catch that day. The second day didn't go very good because I missed my calf and my steer. I placed 3 in the bull dogging. I hazed for Tanner on both days though and he won the bull dogging the second day so it was all in all a pretty good weekend. I have roped every day this week trying to get ready for Rapid City. Had some buds over yesterday to rope, and we had a gong show going on. I think everybody was so hurt by the 3rd time they roped we were all giving up. It was fun though. I hope this weekend goes good. We are suppose to be heading up their tonight and rodeo tomorrow and Sunday so we will see how that goes. Thanks for dropping by and we will chat at you later.

May Long

Hey there cowboys. How y'all doing? So it is me again and its a Thursday morning and we doing some blogging so I am going to tell you what I'm doing for the weekend. We are skipping school tomorrow so we can head on up to Grunthal for the long weekend. We got a rodeo Saturday and Sunday. I am pretty pumped except I haven't done any practicing for the last 2 weeks because we had a family accident. I hope it goes well. I am going to crawl off a bull dogging horse again for the first time since August last year. I had some knee issues and sold my horse so now I have to borrow him back from my buddy. Other than that we are going to try and rope some calves and Layne(team roping partner) and I are going to try and catch the leaders in the team roping. We are sitting second and we are going to have to have some good luck to make it to the top before the end of the season but hopefully we can get er done! Anyways thats good for now, we will probably be back next week and I'll let you know how things went. How is your life treating you?

Second Rodeo

Hey there, how is everyone? Well I ended up making money at Pierson in the team roping. I placed last hole and made 90 bucks or something, I was pretty pumped about that. Just this past weekend we were in Hamiota. We had a major snow storm for the weekend so for the saturday night performance there was a total of 14 contestants. It was a pretty small rodeo. We had to haul the calves back and forth for the rodeo because the stock contractor had none. I had a terrible run in the calf roping, I made way to many mistakes and didn't even get to throw my rope:(. In the team roping my great father, which is my partner, he is the header and forgot to catch the steer so I once again didn't get to throw my rope. The highschool rodeo was cancelled due to the storm which was not happy for me. Well we are going to keep practicing and get ready for the next one on May long. Hope your careers are going good!

FIRST RODEO

Hey. How is your life going? So our first rodeo is now over, it was at Pierson Manitoba. The highschool rodeo went pretty good. I missed my calf the first day, but won the team roping with 8.7. The second day I won the calf roping with a 13, and placed 3rd in the team roping with a 5.4 and a barrier. The amateur rodeo didn't go to good though. I was to long in the calf roping, and roped a leg in the team roping. All in all it was a good weekend. How is your rodeo season going?

Hey folks how are things going? So the manitoba high school rodeo association, one of the associations i compete in, is still on winter holidays so there is not a lot to talk about. I have just started getting my horses rode down so when rodeo comes we are ready to rock. The first rodeo is mid April in Pierson, and I am pretty pumped.
